Can I bring My dog?

If you’ve booked a camping site, absolutely bring your pooch. Please also have on hand any and all registration/vaccination paperwork. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the hostel.


Can I shower?

Our hostel has 3 communal showers (one of which is ADA compliant) and one shower located in the private suite. These showers are for our indoor guests only. Campers at the campground have an experimental outdoor shower located next to the toilets.


Can I cook?

Inside the hostel we have a small kitchenette with cooktop and sink. By all means, please cook! Just make sure to leave the kitchen cleaner than you found it. Our campers have the option of cooking over the campfire, or bringing a portable cooktop with them.


If I’m a camper, can i go in the hostel?

Campers are unfortunately not allowed in the hostel. This is a facility that hostel guests have paid a premium to utilize.


Can i bring my RV?

Barn Door Hostel and Campground strictly caters to tent/hammock campers. RVs, trailers, or popups are not allowed. We do have limited overnight spots for camper vans (maximum length 23ft)


What do I need to bring?

You should bring your toiletries, a towel (we have towels for rent for $2), slippers/slides (there are no shoes allowed in the barn, we have a few slippers you can borrow if you forget). Please do not bring your personal linens. All beds are equipped with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillow and pillow case, as well as two blankets.


Do you offer Appalachian trail shuttles?

We offer shuttles to the Appalachian Trail on Rt 25A when available. These cost $5 per person one way and are upon request and availability of drivers. Please ask a staff on duty for coordination.


Where can I buy gear?

Plymouth Ski and Sport is the closest option for climbing gear and adventure (mountain bike, ski, kayak) rentals. Alternatively, you can go to Ski Fanatics on your way up to Loon, Cannon, or Waterville Valley. Ski Fanatics offers rentals and equipment for purchase at extremely reasonable prices.


Do you rent gear?

We do not rent any gear at this time. There are no climbing gear rental options in the area.


Do you allow kids?

Anyone over the age of 12 is welcome, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The rate is the same for everyone age 12 to 999 years of age. Anyone under 12 may not stay in the hostel, and may camp given prior correspondence with staff.


When are quiet hours?

Quiet hours are between 11pm and 730am. Please be respectful of all guests.


When can i check in/out?

Check in is from 3pm to 10pm. Any late arrivals may be charged a $10 fee unless prior correspondence with staff has occurred.

Check out is noon sharp. Please strip all sheets from beds before leaving. Keep the pillow and two blankets on the bed, place the sheets in the laundry basket provided in your room.


Do you provide sheets? towels?

Our beds are equipped with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, a pillow, a pillow case, and two blankets all included in your stay. We have additional blankets for those extra chilly nights upon request. We have towels for rent for $2 for the duration of your stay. Please place soiled towels in the hamper under the stairs. Please strip all sheets from beds before leaving. Keep the pillow and two blankets on the bed, place the sheets in the laundry basket provided in your room.


do you have potable water?

Water inside our hostel is safe for consumption. Our campground does not have potable water currently. We are working on updating our utilities to respond to this frequent request. You must bring any water you wish to use.


How long can i stay?

We have a strict 14 day policy


Can I book a bunch of friends/large group?

Groups larger than 8 persons that MUST contact the us before booking via email at barndoorhostel@gmail.com. There is a 30% non-refundable deposit due upon booking.


Do you offer guiding?
